Old Friends

My friends have moved on

We grew up

Our loves took different paths

Looking back

Miss those youthful days

No obligations but living

All the risks we took

Staying up till the sun rose

The memories made

Till death we will carry them

I appreciate where life has taken me

It has brought me to here

To the now

My lessons are scars

Some visible on my body

Others hidden in heartbreak

Some further buried in my soul

To those who knew me

Knew me when I feared no Gods

To now, when I pray for my world

They know my darkness, potential and pain

Even when I didn’t

To those I call friends

I’m grateful for our time

I look at all the lonely people

Who missed out by not having any

Tragedy is never knowing friendship

Till we meet again

This life or the next
