Foolish we are for trying
Who are we to change the world
Trying to make a better place for those who don’t welcome change
We are racing into a hurricane that is pushing us out
Still we try and can’t stop ourselves
It’s not because they are undeserving of our efforts
We don’t do it for them
We try and do because we can’t live with ourselves if we don’t
It is a selfish reason that we make an effort
Then selfish are we, no better than those we are trying to help
We learned it’s better to live with ourselves
Then spent a lifetime hating ourselves
So selfish we are
We try and do because we couldn’t live with ourselves if we didn’t
