Cold are those who distrust
They never take a chance on others
Reluctant to believe if they didn’t see it
Doubtful of words that didn’t come from their mouths
Live so bitterly that they can’t imagine anyone not trying to take advantage of them
Always waiting for the dagger to pierce their back
What happened in their past that made them distrust so dearly
Keeping to themselves for fear of trusting
Alone they spend their days
People like them can’t even trust someone enough to get married
Loneliness awaits them, for most a curse
For others they wouldn’t want it any other way
Lost on them is life
This is the life of the brokenhearted
Alone they live it, alone they will leave it
