Watching out the window as the bus flies down the road
Passing streets, highways and cars
On my trek to work
At the will of the bus driver
I look out the window at others making the same commute
Sometimes I look into the cars and stare at the people
I still haven’t found anyone smiling
This commute murders the spirit
The proof is on the faces of those drivers
What is their reason for this journey
They must share my dread of what the day holds
Or are the mentally preparing themselves
More cars zoom past the bus with drivers expressing their hopelessness
Looking around the bus, it’s the same thing
People on their phones trying to escape from what awaits them
Some getting much needed sleep
Still, others look out the window to see who joins them in their misery
