No Returns

Roaming through life

As if shopping for an unknown person

Not knowing what to get

Unable to distinguish between what I want and need

Uncertainty with everything that comes across my path

Does this fit well or not at all

Always defaulting to one question

Will this make me happy

Fill the void with stuff

In order to block the darkness created by the emptiness

To often fill the void with substances over value

A regretful purchase in life

Some costs are too much of a burden to carry

Many fall to the dark, created by that emptiness

They are no longer heard from

Their voices forever lost

I rather prefer the emptiness visible to remind me of the dark

A place we can lose ourselves

Because of all the useless stuff
