Eyes weigh heavy in my head
They want to close but not right now
They ache and burn
Underneath my eyelids, the burn grows
Shake my head to keep them open
My energy is draining
Keep blinking to ease the burn
I need to stand up
Walk around to stay awake
Legs want to give up
Eyes want to close
Not right now
I almost slipped and fell
Open my eyes wider
The burning is eased but only for a few seconds
It quickly returns
Now a raging fire
My breath has change
My head starts to dip
Snap it back to jolt me
Eyes still burning
More as the time passes
I really want to sleep
Not right now
